New Delhi, Sep 21 (NationPress) The 41st edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle transformed into a nationwide festivity of fitness, culture, and sustainability as it aligned with World Car Free Day 2025, which is on Monday (September 22).
With the Department of Tourism joining as a special partner, this edition of Sundays on Cycle highlighted cycling not only as a fitness activity but also as an eco-friendly method to experience the cultural and natural richness of India.
In the national capital, the cycling event at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium featured a captivating nukkad natak (street play) focused on the theme “Impact of Car-Free Day on Health & Environment.” The performance by school children received applause for effectively conveying the message of cleaner air, reduced pollution, and safer streets for people. The celebration of World Car Free Street Day, taking place on September 22, was held today.
This event also coincided with the ongoing Hindi Pakhwara, celebrated by the Sports Authority of India's Rajbhasha division from September 14 to 29. The initiative was conducted in partnership with Raahgiri Foundation and My Bikes, with Rope Skipping activities led by Dr. Shikha Gupta.
National-level cyclists Rahul Rana, Gaurav Kumar, and Priyanshu also participated in the Delhi edition, inspiring attendees to incorporate cycling into their daily routines.
At the SAI National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) in Guwahati, the Fit India Sundays on Cycle was organized in collaboration with Incredible India (India Tourism). The rally honored the late music legend Zubeen Garg, who tragically passed away in an accident in Singapore on Friday. His legacy as the beloved figure of Assam was commemorated with heartfelt tributes during the event.
After 41 editions, the Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative has witnessed extensive participation from over 40,000 locations across the nation, engaging more than 750,000 individuals. Organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) in conjunction with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), Yogasana Bharat, and MY Bharat, this cycling movement has established itself as one of India’s most impactful fitness campaigns.
Events are held from State and Union Territory capitals to Sports Authority of India (SAI) Regional Centres, National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs), SAI Training Centres (STCs), Khelo India State Centres of Excellence (KISCEs), and Khelo India Centres (KICs).
