Sir Garfield Sobers was born in Barbados and made his first-class debut at just 16 in 1953. He earned his West Indies Test cap the following year. By 1958, he had rewritten the record books, scoring an unbeaten 365 against Pakistan — a new world record for the highest individual Test score. That record stood for 36 years until fellow West Indian Brian Lara surpassed it in 1994.
