Navi Mumbai, Oct 26 (NationPress) Despite a frustrating evening where rain confined players indoors for several hours, resulting in the abandonment of India's Women's World Cup match against Bangladesh, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur expressed her satisfaction with the performance of her team, particularly the bowlers, at the Dr DY Patil Stadium on Sunday.
India entered the game without pacer Kranti Gaud and experienced spinner Sneh Rana, with Amanjot Kaur and Radha Yadav stepping in. Harmanpreet was pleased with the bowling effort, which limited Bangladesh to just 119/9 in 27 overs.
"The way we bowled today was well-balanced and clear," said the Indian captain during the post-match presentation.
"Radha's performance today gives us another option for the upcoming game. Amanjot returned and contributed significantly. Whatever we aimed to achieve was accomplished, and I hope Pratika will also be fit for the next match," she added.
The primary concern was the injury to young opener Pratika Rawal, who fell on the slippery ground while fielding and injured her knee and ankle. The Indian skipper is hopeful that Rawal will recover in time for the crucial semifinal against Australia at the same venue on Thursday (October 30).
"Pratika is under the watch of the medical team, and I hope they will provide an update soon. This semifinal is crucial for us; we have performed excellently in the league matches, and every player has contributed, which we intend to carry forward," said Harmanpreet.
"We often talk about enjoying the game, and that’s our goal moving forward," she concluded.
