Hernan Fennell of Argentina Becomes the Sixth Cricketer to Achieve a Double Hat-Trick in T20 Internationals

Buenos Aires, Dec 16 (NationPress) The remarkable Hernan Fennell from Argentina accomplished an extraordinary milestone during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Americas Qualifier. The 36-year-old fast bowler executed a double hat-trick, which involves taking four wickets in four successive deliveries, against the Cayman Islands. This achievement places him among only six cricketers in the history of T20I cricket to reach this level of excellence.

Fennell's exceptional bowling performance concluded with impressive figures of 5-14, as he claimed the wickets of Donald Ebanks and Alessandro Morris, among others. This accomplishment aligns him with notable bowlers such as Rashid Khan from Afghanistan, Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka, Curtis Campher from Ireland, Jason Holder of the West Indies, and Waseem Yaqoobr from Lesotho, who have also recorded a T20I double hat-trick.

Moreover, Fennell is now recognized as just the sixth player in men’s T20I history to have achieved multiple hat-tricks, having previously taken a hat-trick against Panama in Antigua during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Americas Region Qualifier event in 2021.

Other bowlers who have also recorded more than one men’s T20I hat-trick include Waseem Abbas from Malta, Pat Cummins of Australia, Mark Pavlovic from Serbia, Tim Southee of New Zealand, Malinga, and now Fennell.

Despite Fennell’s outstanding performance, Argentina fell short in their pursuit of the Cayman Islands’ total of 116, losing by 22 runs.
