New Delhi, Aug 17 (NationPress) The Holistic International Pravasi Sports Association (HIPSA) officially awarded a Guinness World Record certificate for Kabaddi to Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Saini during a ceremony that took place at Haryana Bhawan on Sunday.
This esteemed accolade was granted for orchestrating the largest participation in a Kabaddi exhibition event, which occurred in Panchkula, Haryana on March 24 of the previous year, establishing a new global standard for this traditional Indian sport.
March 24 is commemorated as World Kabaddi Day, which prompted a special match that featured record participation from 128 players. The match extended over a duration of 2 hours and 9 minutes.
The World Record event attracted significant involvement from athletes, youth, and sports aficionados across the region, reinforcing Haryana’s reputation as the epicenter of Kabaddi.
The certificate was bestowed by HIPSA president Kanthi D Suresh, alongside GI-PKL founder Karthik Dammu, to the Chief Minister.
Recently, during the sixth state level Khel Mahakumbh at Panchkula’s Tau Devi Lal Stadium, the Haryana Chief Minister inaugurated the event with the commencement of a Kabaddi match, uplifting the spirits of the participating athletes.
