How Did the Hyderabad Heroes Stay Unbeaten and Reach the Top of the Points Table?

Mumbai, June 20 (NationPress) The Hyderabad Heroes achieved their fourth consecutive victory in Season 1 of the Rugby Premier League (RPL), securing the top position on the points table and maintaining their status as the only unbeaten team in the tournament thus far.

In other matches held at the Shahaji Raje Bhosale Sports Complex (Andheri Sports Complex) on Friday, the Bengaluru Bravehearts claimed a decisive victory, while the Delhi Redz notched their second straight win of the season.

Historically, the rivalry between teams from Chennai and Bengaluru is fierce in Indian sports, and Friday's Rugby Premier League was no exception. The Bravehearts showcased an impressive performance, defeating the Chennai Bulls 26-0, marking the Bulls' first loss of the season and the first instance of a team achieving a clean sheet in this inaugural season of the GMR RPL.

Both teams displayed exceptional skill in a heated first half, featuring last-gasp tackles and remarkable counterattacks from both sides. After a scoreless first half, it was the Bengaluru Bravehearts who pierced the Chennai Bulls' defense to score first.

Liam Poulton was instrumental in the Bravehearts' attack, scoring two tries in the second half, supported by Pol Pla, who added a third. Just before the game concluded, Philip Wokorach contributed a fourth try, while Akuila Rokolisoa successfully converted three of the four kicks.

The second match witnessed the Delhi Redz gaining momentum as they triumphed over the Kalinga Black Tigers 21-7, marking their second consecutive victory.

The Kalinga Black Tigers began the match strongly, putting pressure on the Delhi Redz's defense, which ultimately led to a try by Kyle Tremblay, successfully converted by Maurice Longbottom.

However, the Redz responded vigorously before halftime, with Matias Osadczuk and Patrick Okongo each scoring critical tries, and Osadczuk executing the conversions swiftly to lead 14-7 at the midpoint.

In the second half, the Redz firmly shut down the Tigers' offense. Capitalizing on the Tigers' desperation to advance, Matteo Graziano scored a try, bringing the final score to 21-7 after Deepak Punia converted the kick.

In the last match of the day, the Hyderabad Heroes faced off against the Mumbai Dreamers and secured a comfortable 19-12 win, despite a shaky start. The Heroes' early challenge came when the Dreamers scored a Penalty Try within minutes, eliciting cheers from their fans.

However, the Heroes quickly responded, with Javed Hussein scoring a try and Lautaro Velez converting the kick to level the game. Joji Nasova then added two more tries, along with a conversion, propelling the Heroes to a 19-7 lead.

The Dreamers, undeterred, fought back with Henry Hutchison scoring their first try, narrowing the gap to 7 points with just 4 minutes remaining. Unfortunately for the Dreamers, they could not add more points, allowing the Heroes to celebrate their fourth consecutive win.
