New Delhi, Dec 7 (NationPress) Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana has officially canceled her wedding with music composer and singer Palash Muchhal. She took to her social media to release a statement, requesting privacy and space to move forward at her own pace.
"In recent weeks, there has been much speculation about my personal life, and I feel it is crucial to address this now. Being a very private individual, I prefer to maintain that aspect, but I must clarify that the wedding is officially off," wrote Mandhana.
"I would like to conclude this matter here and urge everyone to do the same. I kindly ask that you respect the privacy of both families during this time and allow us the necessary space to process and move on at our own pace.
Mandhana went on to express that her primary focus remains on continuing to play and win trophies for India.
"I believe there is a greater purpose guiding us all, and for me, that has always been about representing my country at the highest level. I aspire to keep playing and securing trophies for India for as long as possible, and that will always be my main focus. Thank you for your support. It’s time to move ahead," she added.
The wedding of Mandhana and Muchhal was anticipated to be a grand affair, especially following India's recent triumph in the Women’s World Cup. However, the celebrations were unexpectedly halted when Mandhana's father reportedly fell ill, leading to a suspension of the ceremonies.
Following this, social media became rife with unfounded rumors, including allegations of infidelity against Muchhal. His family, however, dismissed these claims, condemning those spreading what they labeled as baseless and defamatory narratives about the music composer.
Mandhana and her teammates from Team India, who were present for the ceremony, have also removed all wedding-related images from their social media profiles and have chosen to remain silent on the matter.
