Chennai, January 25 (NationPress) Both India and England have made a pair of alterations to their playing lineups as captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and chose to field first in the second T20I at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday. India currently leads the five-match T20I series 1-0.
Local talent Washington Sundar and Dhruv Jurel have stepped in for the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rinku Singh in India's lineup. Reddy is ruled out for the remainder of the series due to a side strain, while Rinku will miss two matches because of a lower back spasm sustained while fielding in the T20I series opener, which India secured by seven wickets in Kolkata.
“The pitch appears promising; there was some dew yesterday, and I hope it improves in the evening. It looks sturdy, and I hope it remains that way. We aim to adhere to our fundamentals and maintain the approach we had in the previous match across all departments. I'm eagerly anticipating this game. Fielding is crucial as it unites everyone and fosters energy and positivity,” expressed Suryakumar.
For England, Jamie Smith will make his T20I debut in place of Jacob Bethell, who is sidelined due to illness, while Brydon Carse replaces Gus Atkinson. “I would have preferred to bowl first, but we will replicate the same strategy and aim for improvement. The team is relaxed and ready for today. We wish to be more aggressive. We'll quickly assess the conditions and communicate effectively,” stated captain Jos Buttler.
