New Delhi, July 5 (NationPress) The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have jointly decided to postpone the upcoming white-ball series, which includes three ODIs and three T20 Internationals, originally scheduled for August 2025, now moved to September 2026. The primary reason for this delay appears to be security concerns stemming from the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh.
“This resolution was reached after discussions between both Boards, considering the international commitments and scheduling needs of both teams,” the statement noted.
The BCB expressed eagerness to host India in September 2026 for this highly anticipated series, with revised dates and fixtures to be shared later,” the BCCI statement added.
The Bangladesh tour was set to start on August 17, closely following India's ongoing five-Test series against England, which concludes with the final match scheduled from July 31 to August 4.
This postponement is a disappointment for Indian fans, as the ODI series would have marked the first appearance of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in Indian colors since their victory in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Fans will now have to wait until October when India heads to Australia for a white-ball series featuring three ODIs and five T20Is.
Currently, Bangladesh is visiting Sri Lanka, where they faced a 1-0 setback in a two-Test series. Both teams are also competing in three ODIs and T20Is, with Sri Lanka winning the first ODI and the second match taking place at the R. Premadasa Stadium.
Meanwhile, India is engaged in the second Test match against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham, with three additional Tests lined up at Lord's (July 10-14), Manchester (July 23-27), and the Oval (July 31-August 4).
