The tournament's opening match will see Afghanistan face off against Hong Kong China in Group B at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, located in Abu Dhabi.
Renowned match referees Richie Richardson and Andy Pycroft will oversee the match officials' team throughout the tournament. Details regarding the match officials for the Super Four and the final will be shared later, as stated by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Monday.
The umpires officiating during the tournament include Ahmad Pakteen (Afghanistan), Asif Yaqoob (Pakistan), Faisal Afridi (Pakistan), Gazi Sohel (Bangladesh), Izatullah Safi (Afghanistan), Masudur Rahman (Bangladesh), Raveendra Wimalasiri (Sri Lanka), Rohan Pandit (India), Ruchira Palliyaguruge (Sri Lanka), and Virender Sharma (India).
India is set to kick off their Group A matches against the UAE at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 10, followed by a highly anticipated match against Pakistan at the same venue on September 14. They will then take on Oman at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on September 19.
This 17th edition of the Asia Cup marks India's initial T20I appearance after their recent 4-1 series victory against England in January. The tournament plays a crucial role in preparing India for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka, where they will defend their title.
This will also be the first major tournament for the Men in Blue without senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who retired from T20I following last year's World Cup success. The esteemed duo also concluded their Test careers before the tour to England, now limiting their international appearances to the ODI format.
The last time Rohit and Kohli donned the Indian jersey was during their victorious campaign at the ICC Champions Trophy in March.
