New Delhi, March 9 (NationPress) Indian cricketers Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma shared their thoughts on the team’s remarkable victory in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, reflecting on their camaraderie and determination after claiming the championship with an impressive win against New Zealand during the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad last Sunday.

In a video released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the players openly discussed the emotions tied to India’s victorious journey and the experiences that led to this defining achievement.

Kishan emphasized the importance of this win, noting that it marked the first time the host nation had triumphed in the tournament.

“The hosting nation had never won the World Cup before, and here we stand. We played with utmost passion. Throughout the tournament, we maintained a positive mindset, supporting one another, which epitomizes the essence of the Indian cricket team. At the 2023 World Cup, it was an emotional moment for us all, but we turned our fortunes around. We executed a fantastic game, and the credit goes to everyone involved—support staff and teammates alike. Today, we find ourselves lifting the trophy, and we aim to replicate this success,” Kishan expressed in a bcci.tv interview.

Meanwhile, Abhishek, who played a pivotal role during the tournament, described winning the World Cup as the highlight of his career thus far.

“It’s truly one of the best moments; it’s the pinnacle,” Abhishek remarked. Kishan also acknowledged Abhishek’s ability to remain positive, even during challenging times. “Look at this champion; runs may not come, but maintaining a positive mindset is key. Even during tough phases, he was always there to uplift others,” he noted.

Reflecting on his personal challenges during the tournament, Abhishek credited the supportive team environment for bolstering his confidence.

“Had someone told me we’d win the cup and I’d take the last wicket, I would have struggled through those days because it was tough for me. However, the support from the team and coaching staff made me feel accompanied every single day. This sense of unity is crucial; when you’re not performing, it can be isolating. I’m immensely proud of our team,” said an emotional Abhishek.

Kishan reiterated his admiration for Abhishek’s contributions post-victory, stating, “He’s always ready to assist others, and he reaped the rewards today; I’m so proud of him.” Abhishek reciprocated the praise, reflecting on the dream of securing a World Cup title for India.

“I’m proud of him! This is a dream fulfilled, especially since I watched the previous World Cup from home. Winning the World Cup for our team and excelling throughout the journey is something I will cherish forever.”
