Ahmedabad, Oct 3 (NationPress) Indian opener KL Rahul dedicated his century celebration to his daughter Evaarah after achieving a long-awaited home century against the West Indies on Day 2 of the Ahmedabad Test on Friday.

Rahul and his wife, actress Athiya Shetty, welcomed their daughter on March 24 this year, and the opener mentioned that this milestone innings held significant meaning for him.

“It was for my daughter,” Rahul stated at stumps when questioned about the tribute.

Returning to the top of the order following a successful tour of England, Rahul confessed that he felt more nervous during a preparatory match against Australia A than in this series. “I just played a game last week. I was a bit nervous there because I hadn’t been on the field for 5-6 weeks. Getting back into rhythm, spending time in the middle, and playing four-day and five-day cricket was a physical challenge,” he explained.

Rahul also highlighted the challenging conditions in Ahmedabad. “The game I played last week was even tougher. It’s been physically demanding, but it was crucial to get those miles in my legs. That helped me today.”

Reflecting on his recent performance, the stylish right-hander expressed his enjoyment in adapting to various challenges. “Playing in England was enjoyable. Scoring runs there boosted my confidence, and entering this game with some runs behind me also contributed. After a lengthy break, I feel rejuvenated and I’m truly enjoying being back in the middle.”

With this latest innings, Rahul has accumulated 632 runs in six Tests during the ongoing World Test Championship (2025–27) cycle, reinforcing his status as a pivotal player.
