New Delhi, July 19 (NationPress) Luton Town has officially welcomed Josh Keeley, a promising goalkeeper from Tottenham Hotspur. The 22-year-old has signed a permanent deal following an impressive tenure on loan with Leyton Orient in League One last season.
The Republic of Ireland international keeper began his journey at Spurs’ Academy after transferring from St Patrick’s Athletic in July 2022 and was immediately integrated into the first team's pre-season tour in South Korea. He repeated this experience in the summer of 2023 as Spurs toured Australia, Thailand, and Singapore.
During his initial two years, he was a consistent player for the Under-21 squad before he was loaned to Barnet in January 2024.
In his inaugural interview with Luton Town, Keeley shared that a former Town goalkeeper played a significant role in his decision to join the Hatters.
“Dean Brill, my goalkeeping coach at Spurs, spoke highly of the club, emphasizing its greatness. His words genuinely influenced my decision, and I'm thrilled to be here,” Keeley expressed to LTFC+.
“I made the move to Spurs at 19, but every player reaches a juncture where it’s time to progress – that time is now, and I’m eager to begin my new adventure,” Keeley added.
Last season was remarkable for Keeley, who joined Leyton Orient on loan in August 2024, appearing 36 times for the O's and achieving 16 clean sheets, with an impressive stretch of 660 minutes without conceding a goal in December.
He gained national attention by netting a late equalizer in the FA Cup's second round against Oldham and showcased his skills during a penalty shootout victory over Derby, leading to a fourth-round clash with Manchester City.
Orient reached the League One play-off final, where Keeley played in a narrow 1-0 defeat against Charlton at Wembley. His outstanding performances earned him three awards at Orient's end-of-season ceremonies, including the coveted Goal of the Season.
Having represented his country at Under-17, Under-19, and Under-21 levels, Keeley received his first senior call-up for the Republic of Ireland for this summer's friendlies against Senegal and Luxembourg.
