Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka on 10 June 2025 praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for becoming India's longest continuously serving elected Prime Minister, completing 4,399 days in office and surpassing a record held by Jawaharlal Nehru for more than six decades. Goenka said India had undergone a transformative shift in ambition, global standing, and economic confidence during Modi's tenure.

The Historic Milestone

Prime Minister Modi reached the landmark on Wednesday after consecutive electoral victories in 2014, 2019, and 2024, making him the only elected Prime Minister to have held office without interruption for this length of time. The previous record, set by Jawaharlal Nehru, had stood unchallenged for over 60 years.

Drawing on his own experience in the corporate sector, Goenka underscored the value of policy stability in driving long-term growth. 'Few leaders are given this much time, and fewer still use it to pursue change with such consistency. Over these years, policy continuity and sustained execution have created the foundations on which lasting progress is built. As someone who has spent his life building businesses in India, I have seen how important certainty and long-term thinking are,' he said.

Business and Infrastructure Focus

Goenka also pointed to the government's emphasis on infrastructure development, digital transformation, ease of doing business, and national competitiveness as factors that have strengthened confidence within the business community. He argued these measures have elevated India's role in global conversations on trade and technology.

'The emphasis on infrastructure, digital transformation, ease of doing business and national competitiveness has strengthened confidence across industry and encouraged Indian enterprise to think bigger. India's growing stature in the world and its increasing ability to shape conversations on trade, technology and economic growth are also defining features of this period,' he noted.
