New Delhi, July 25 (NationPress) India’s debutant Anshul Kamboj reflected on his feelings after achieving his first international wicket, expressing that he feels unsatisfied with his bowling and is determined to enhance his performance.
Kamboj, who has been a consistent name in domestic cricket recently, became the 318th Test player for India, stepping in for the injured Akash Deep due to a groin issue. He provided a vital breakthrough on Day 2 of the fourth Test at Old Trafford, dismissing England opener Ben Duckett for 94.
"I felt elated after securing my first international wicket. My focus was on hitting the right areas from the outset. Some deliveries were on point, while others missed the mark. To be honest, I’m still not completely satisfied with my bowling. I aim to improve and perform better tomorrow," Kamboj shared on JioHotstar.
Discussing his strategies and mindset as he approached Day 3, the pacer remarked, "I aimed to give my all during the initial two spells. In the third spell, I concentrated on relying on my strengths and maintaining my accuracy. Tomorrow, we plan to bowl in precise areas and aim for quick dismissals. It’s crucial to limit boundaries, as they seem more inclined to hit fours than take singles."
Kamboj also expressed how valuable it is to bowl alongside India’s pace leader Jasprit Bumrah. "I learn immensely from Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj — observing their actions in various scenarios and recognizing what needs to be done. We continually communicate, focusing on adapting to the conditions and the match circumstances," he concluded.
Rishabh Pant made a remarkable return to the crease despite a fractured foot, marking the highlight of Day 2, as India was bowled out for 358 in their opening innings.
In response, England’s opening partnership of Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley took charge, putting the hosts in a strong position. England ended the day at 225/2, with Joe Root and Ollie Pope not out.
