How did DPS RK Puram reach the finals of Oriental Cup 2025?

New Delhi, July 25 (NationPress) Delhi Public School, RK Puram, made history by becoming the first boys’ team to secure its position in the finals of the Oriental Cup 2025 after achieving two remarkable victories on Friday at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium.

The Mother’s International School also showcased its prowess, clinching wins in both the boys’ and girls’ categories to stay competitive for the finals. With one more round of league matches left, the tournament promises an exciting conclusion across all categories.

Day five of the Oriental Cup 2025 kicked off with DPS RK Puram narrowly defeating Navy Children School 1–0 in a fiercely contested Group B match, with Aarav Pahwa netting the key goal in the 27th minute. Later in the afternoon, they triumphed over New Green Field School, Saket with a score of 4–0, thanks to goals from Ayush Ranjan, Aarav Pahwa (his second of the day), and two from Afraaz Tariq, securing their spot in the boys’ finals under the guidance of coach Gobardhan Sahoo.

In Group A, the boys’ team from The Mother’s International School, led by coach Sachin Rawat, fought back to defeat DPS Vasant Kunj 2–1. After Krishna Kumar gave DPS the upper hand in the first half, MIS rallied with second-half goals from Raaghav Sharma and Nirvaan Manik. Their girls’ team followed suit, dominating Tagore International School with a 5–0 victory, with Japjit Kaur scoring four times and Prasansha Jha adding one.

In the girls’ Group B, DPS Vasant Kunj, coached by Shivam Bhardwaj, narrowly defeated St. Francis De Sales Sr. Secondary School 1–0, courtesy of a goal from Aisha. Later, the boys bounced back from an earlier setback with a convincing 4–0 win over Amity International School, Noida, with Garv Khullar and Satish Kr. Yadav scoring twice each to secure crucial points in Group A.

As the group stages draw to a close, six out of seven girls' teams remain in contention for the finals, while the boys’ Group A remains tightly contested. The final round of league matches is scheduled for Monday, July 28, with the finals set for Tuesday, July 29, at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium.

The Oriental Cup continues to solidify its importance in Delhi’s school sports landscape. Recognized by the Delhi Soccer Association, this tournament has emerged as a crucial platform for structured, competitive football at the grassroots level.
