Accepting the honour, Krishna was quick to deflect credit toward the reserve players and support staff who worked behind the scenes throughout the series. 'Thank you very much, guys. Nothing would be possible without each one of you,' he said in a video shared on bcci.tv. 'Everybody around — I think it takes a lot for everybody during the Test match, we were here for a camp.'

He specifically acknowledged the efforts of those who endured the sweltering conditions to keep the squad going. 'All the reserves out there, coming in, running in, helping out all of us. So, this effort is going to take us all a long way. This is the way the team has to be run,' Krishna added.
