It has been a difficult season — Riley has missed 10 cuts, including last week's 3M Open, and entered the week ranked No. 146 in the FedEx Cup standings. Brennan's Bogey Costs Him Sole Lead

The 24-year-old Brennan, a former Wake Forest standout, carded a 64 featuring seven birdies but missed a 9-foot putt on the 18th to bogey the closing hole, surrendering what would have been an outright lead. Brennan is seeking his second professional win and first since the Bank of Utah Championship last year — which was also his debut as a professional. He enters Sunday ranked No. 106 in the FedEx Cup standings, with a strong finish potentially lifting him into the top 70 and the play-offs. He had signalled his form early in the week with eight consecutive birdies on Thursday — one shy of the PGA TOUR record — en route to an opening 65, followed by a 67 on Friday.

Hojgaard's Record Round and the Chasing Pack

Rasmus Hojgaard of Denmark produced the round of the day, shooting a 61 to become the third player in as many days to match the Detroit Golf Club course record. The Dane, who is chasing his first PGA TOUR win after missing the cut in his previous three starts, briefly held the lead before Brennan's birdies pushed him back. Hojgaard sits three shots off the pace alongside Chris Kirk (66) and Rickie Fowler (67). Cameron Young (68) is also three back after a difficult round in which he missed 11-foot putts on consecutive holes and struggled off the tee. Xander Schauffele (67) is a further shot adrift, sitting four behind the leaders heading into the final round.

Indian-Origin Stars Eye Play-Off Spots

The Rocket Classic and next week's Wyndham Championship are the final two stroke-play events before the top 70 in the FedEx Cup standings advance to the play-offs. Among those with play-off ambitions, Akshay Bhatia is the best-placed Indian-origin player at 12th in the standings, followed by Aaron Rai (35th), Sahith Theegala (42nd), and Indo-Canadian Sudarshan Yellamaraju (53rd). All four are currently inside the cut-off, but the standings remain fluid with one tournament to follow.

Sunday's final round at the relatively accessible Detroit Golf Club layout is expected to produce low scoring, meaning the lead is far from secure.
