New Delhi, May 20 (NationPress) The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have secured the toss and opted to bowl first against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium today. This match marks the final game of the season for both teams, who are striving to avoid the shame of finishing last in the standings.
With both teams sitting at six points each, this match will feature the league's oldest and youngest players – CSK captain MS Dhoni and RR opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
After winning the toss, RR captain Sanju Samson announced that pacer Yudhvir Singh Charak has been included in the playing eleven, replacing Fazalhaq Farooqi.
“Reflecting on our last game against DC, we acknowledged the challenges faced. There’s no escaping the fact that we’ve lost eight out of nine games while chasing. Today, we need every player to be a match-winner,” he stated.
Dhoni, who received an enthusiastic reception from the crowd clad in yellow, expressed that this game serves as a chance to evaluate players for future seasons. Pacer Matheesha Pathirana is expected to be CSK’s impact player as they look to defend their total later on.
“We aim to showcase our capabilities in batting. It’s essential to identify which players excel in specific roles for next year. We must refine our bowling strategy. Once we were out of contention for the tournament, our focus shifted to preparing for the future,” he explained.
Today’s match will take place on pitch number five, featuring square boundaries of 63m and a 72m boundary down the ground. Pitch analysts Simon Doull and Graeme Swann noted that the strip is dry with slight grass and a few minor cracks.
