Sharmin Akhter, Nadine de Klerk, and Danni Wyatt-Hodge in the running for ICC Women’s Player of the Month award

New Delhi, Dec 5 (NationPress) Bangladesh batter Sharmin Akhter, South Africa all-rounder Nadine de Klerk, and England opener Danni Wyatt-Hodge have received nominations for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for November 2024.

Sharmin, who bats right-handed, is celebrating her inaugural nomination for this prestigious monthly honor. A victory would allow her to join her fellow countrywoman Nahida Akter as the only other player from Bangladesh's women's team to achieve this accolade since the award's inception.

The 28-year-old had an impressive start to the ODI series against Ireland, showcasing her talent with two remarkable performances. She recorded a career-best score of 96 during a dominant Player of the Match performance in the opening game, leading her team to a convincing 154-run victory. She maintained her strong form in the second match, scoring 43 to help secure a five-wicket win in Mirpur.

On the flip side, despite suffering a challenging 3-0 series defeat at the hands of England on home ground, Nadine excelled by being the top run-scorer and wicket-taker for her side.

In November 2024, Nadine accumulated 80 runs alongside four wickets, standing firm against England's attack. She notably scored 29 not out and bowled a spell of 2-20 in the first and second matches, followed by 32 not out and 2-36 respectively.

Meanwhile, Danni has achieved her first nomination for the monthly award after a thrilling month at the crease during England's 3-0 T20I series victory as part of their ongoing multi-format tour of South Africa.

After a modest beginning in East London, she exploded with a score of 78 off 45 balls, significantly contributing to England's 36-run victory in Benoni. At 33 years of age, Danni concluded the series in style with another impressive half-century, as England completed the series sweep with a nine-wicket win at Centurion.
