Melbourne, Dec 8 (NationPress) Teen left-arm fast bowler Lucy Hamilton has claimed the prestigious WBBL season 11 young gun award, while former Australian captain Meg Lanning secured the Golden Bat for an impressive third occasion.
Lucy, set to represent Delhi Capitals in the upcoming 2026 WPL season, led the bowling attack for Brisbane during a challenging season and took eight wickets, with her best figures being 2-28.
This year, Lucy captained the Australian team at the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia, where she notably dismissed key players such as Meg Lanning, Beth Mooney, and Tahlia McGrath.
Meg, who played for the Melbourne Stars and will join UP Warriorz in the 2026 WPL, topped the run-scoring leaderboard for the third time in her WBBL career, amassing 430 runs at an average of 53.75, which included a remarkable 135 off 74 balls against the Sydney Sixers.
Meanwhile, Georgia Wareham, a leg-spinner from Australia who will play for Gujarat Giants in the 2026 WPL, had her best WBBL season, winning the golden arm award for taking 19 wickets at an average of 10.94 while representing the Melbourne Renegades.
“Congratulations to Lucy Hamilton, Meg Lanning, and Georgia Wareham for their outstanding performances that earned them these accolades. As we enter the final week of WBBL|11, it is exciting to highlight our top emerging and established talents for their achievements on the field,” said Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia’s Executive General Manager for Big Bash Leagues.
“Despite their remarkable individual seasons, it's notable that two of these players represent teams that did not reach the Finals, underscoring the competitive nature of the whole league,” he added.
The WBBL season 11 player of the tournament will be announced on Wednesday, followed by the team of the tournament on Thursday. The finals series kicks off with the Perth Scorchers facing off against the Melbourne Stars in a knockout match at the WACA Ground on Tuesday night.
The Sydney Sixers will play against the winner of the knockout match in Thursday’s challenger game at North Sydney Oval, and the Hobart Hurricanes will host the final, competing against the challenger winner at Ninja Stadium on Saturday.
