Chennai, Jan 26 (NationPress) Top-order batsman Tilak Varma expressed that his goal was to challenge England's premier bowler Jofra Archer and put pressure on the remaining bowlers, as he played a pivotal role in leading India to a thrilling two-wicket victory in the second T20I at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
In pursuit of 166 runs, England had India struggling at 78/5 and later at 126/7. However, Tilak's remarkable innings of 55 runs off 55 balls, featuring four fours and five sixes, guided India home with four balls remaining, securing a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. A highlight of his innings was when he struck Archer for 30 runs off just nine balls, leaving the pacer with his poorest T20I statistics of 1-60 in four overs.
"My strategy is to target England's top bowlers. By facing their best bowlers, it places pressure on the rest of the attack. Even when wickets fall, I focus on challenging their best bowler, making it easier for the other batsman at the opposite end," stated Tilak during the press conference.

I can maintain a high strike rate or manage at 6 or 7 runs per over. This is something I discussed with Gautam Gambhir during the last match.
He advised me to have the flexibility to score over 10 runs an over or below that, depending on what the team needs. I had the opportunity to showcase this in this game, committing to play until the end.
