Vadodara International Cricket Stadium has been selected as one of two venues for the inaugural 2027 ICC Women's Champions Trophy, with Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) Chief Executive Officer Snehal Parikh describing the recognition as 'well deserved', citing the ground's rapid rise as a premier women's cricket hub in India.

ICC Confirms Vadodara and Mumbai as Co-Hosts

The International Cricket Council (ICC) named Vadodara International Cricket Stadium and Mumbai's Brabourne Stadium as the two venues for the six-team competition, scheduled from 14 to 28 February 2027. The tournament features the top six women's T20I sides ranked as of 6 July — Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.

The event was relocated to India following a global reassessment by the ICC after Sri Lanka was stripped of its original hosting rights due to government interference in its cricket board's administration. India, Bangladesh, and South Africa had submitted alternative bids before India was awarded the hosting duties.

BCA CEO: 'We've Been Hosting So Many Matches'

Speaking on the selection, BCA CEO Snehal Parikh said the venue's track record of staging high-profile fixtures made the nod a natural outcome. 'We can say that we are lucky. But we can always say it's well deserved because we've been hosting so many matches, tournaments and I think the response has been good. People have appreciated and the BCCI has appreciated as well,' Parikh said.

He added that visiting dignitaries and players had consistently praised the ground's infrastructure. 'Various officials, India players, and international masters league players like Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, and everyone have appreciated the grounds, facilities, wickets, and outfield. So, yes, we are lucky there,' Parikh said.

A Stadium That Has Grown Fast

Also known as Kotambi International Stadium, the venue is located roughly 30 kilometres outside Vadodara, just off the Harod-Halol-Vadodara highway. It hosted its first international match during the India-West Indies women's ODI series in December 2024, followed by a men's ODI between India and New Zealand in January 2025.

With a seating capacity of 35,000, the stadium has built a strong women's cricket portfolio — hosting six matches in the 2025 Women's Premier League (WPL) and 11 games in the 2026 WPL edition earlier this year.

Upcoming Fixtures Before the Champions Trophy

The stadium's calendar ahead of the 2027 tournament is already packed. It is set to host a three-match women's ODI series between India and Zimbabwe on 23, 25, and 28 October. It will also stage India women's Under-19 T20 matches against England women's Under-19 on 26 and 28 November. The back-to-back assignments underline the venue's growing status as a go-to ground for women's cricket in India.
