Colombo, Oct 24 (NationPress) Sri Lanka emerged victorious at the toss, opting to field first against Pakistan in the rain-affected 25th match of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup, held at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday.
As per the updated playing regulations, the Sri Lanka–Pakistan Women’s World Cup match will consist of 34 overs per side, with a 20-minute break between innings. Each of the four bowlers can bowl a maximum of seven overs, while one bowler is permitted to bowl up to six overs.
Pakistan has made two alterations for this match, bringing in Eyman Fatima and Syeda Aroob Shah to replace Sidra Nawaz and Diana Baig. On the other hand, Sri Lanka has made one change, with Dewmi Vihanga taking Udeshika Prabodhani's place in the playing XI.
Sri Lanka's captain, Chamari Athapaththu, stated, "We have decided to bowl first. I am quite confident in our bowling unit, and the recent rainy conditions are not favorable for batters. Hence, we chose to bowl first.
“We have made one change. Dewmi Vihanga is back in the squad for Udeshika Prabodani.
Regarding their last match, Athapaththu mentioned: "Yes, certainly. We didn't perform our best cricket previously, but we were fortunate to win in the last over. We need to execute our strategies accurately, and I hope we deliver our best performance today."
