WPL 2025 Auction: Deandra Dottin, Simran Shaikh, and G Kamalini Command High Prices

Bengaluru, Dec 15 (NationPress) The powerful all-rounder from the West Indies, Deandra Dottin, along with Mumbai's Simran Shaikh and the talented India U19 wicketkeeper-batter G Kamalini, have garnered substantial contracts in the WPL 2025 player auction held here on Sunday.

In a fierce competition for Deandra, who had a reserve price of Rs 50 lakh, both Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz battled it out, with the Adani Sportsline-owned team ultimately securing her for Rs 1.7 crore.

A significant highlight of the auction has been the impressive contracts for uncapped players, particularly Simran, who was signed by Gujarat Giants for Rs 1.9 crore after surpassing Delhi Capitals.

Simran, previously part of UP Warriorz during WPL 2023, contributed to Mumbai's triumph in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy and was also a member of the India E team that claimed the Challenger Trophy.

To acquire the explosive Kamalini, who scored an unbeaten 44 in India's nine-wicket victory over Pakistan in the U19 Asia Cup, Mumbai Indians invested Rs 1.6 crore following intense bidding against DC. MI had evaluated Kamalini during their pre-auction trials.

At just 16 years old, Kamalini hails from Madurai and is trained at the Super Kings Academy in Chennai. She gained attention by scoring 311 runs in eight matches, leading Tamil Nadu to the U19 Women’s T20 Trophy title in October. She will serve as MI’s second wicketkeeper option alongside Yastika Bhatia.

Another notable uncapped Indian player to secure a lucrative deal was Uttarakhand all-rounder Prema Rawat, who was signed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for Rs 1.2 crore.

Prema, known for her leg-spin bowling, played a pivotal role in Mussoorie Thunders' victory in the inaugural Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL) this year.

While DC missed out on Kamalini, they successfully acquired Uttarakhand wicketkeeper Nandini Kashyap for her base price of Rs 10 lakh. Nandini was the top run-scorer in the Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy and the third-highest in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy while representing Uttarakhand this domestic season. She will be DC’s second wicketkeeper alongside Taniyaa Bhatia.

DC and MI were also engaged in a competitive bidding for uncapped India all-rounder N Charani, who bowls left-arm spin, with DC ultimately signing her for Rs 55 lakh. MI also brought in South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk for Rs 30 lakh. The five teams will have the opportunity to fill their remaining slots in the upcoming accelerated auction round.
