AIOCD members raise slogans in Amritsar

Members of the All-India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) raised slogans in Amritsar, Punjab on 20 May 2026, demanding a ban on online pharmacies and instant medicine delivery platforms during the body's nationwide strike.

Medicine shops in Amritsar district, Punjab remained shut on 20 May 2026 as the All-India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) observed a nationwide strike against online pharmacies and instant delivery services.

The AIOCD called the 20 May 2026 strike to protest the unchecked growth of online pharmacies and instant medicine delivery platforms, which the body argues undercut traditional brick-and-mortar chemists and bypass prescription norms.

Across Amritsar district and other parts of Punjab, pharmacy shutters stayed down on 20 May 2026 as the AIOCD strike highlighted the growing tension between traditional chemists and e-pharmacy platforms in India.
