GBA launches Safe Footpath Campaign in Bengaluru

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) rolled out its 'Safe Footpath Campaign' on 18 July 2026, directing civic teams to physically remove abandoned vehicles occupying pedestrian walkways across Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The drive was conducted in the Gandhinagar Assembly constituency of Bengaluru, where abandoned vehicles had reportedly encroached on footpaths, obstructing pedestrian movement and access for persons with disabilities.

Karnataka Minister Krishna Byre Gowda was personally present during the GBA footpath clearance drive on 18 July 2026, signalling the state government's direct involvement in reclaiming public pedestrian space in Bengaluru.

MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao joined Minister Krishna Byre Gowda at the GBA drive in the Gandhinagar constituency, underscoring cross-level political backing for the 'Safe Footpath Campaign' aimed at restoring walkable streets in Bengaluru.
