Trishakti Corps builds 34-metre bridge at Dudhia

Personnel of the Indian Army's Trishakti Corps erected a 34-metre footbridge across the Balason River at Dudhia on 23 June 2026, after incessant rains destroyed the existing crossing in Darjeeling district, West Bengal.

Incessant monsoon rains washed away the existing crossing over the Balason River at Dudhia, severing the road link between Siliguri and Mirik in Darjeeling district before the Army intervened on 23 June 2026.

The Trishakti Corps footbridge at Dudhia restored the Siliguri–Mirik road corridor and reopened access towards Pashupati Phatak in Darjeeling district, providing relief to residents cut off by the monsoon deluge.

The Indian Army's Trishakti Corps rapid deployment of a 34-metre footbridge over the Balason River on 23 June 2026 exemplified the military's humanitarian role in restoring civilian access across flood-hit North Bengal.
