Mourners Gather for Odeh's Funeral in Gaza City

Residents of Gaza City gathered on 27 May 2026 for the funeral of Mohammed Odeh and his family members, all killed in an Israeli airstrike the previous evening.

Hamas officially confirmed on Wednesday, 28 May 2026 that Mohammed Odeh — the newly-appointed commander-in-chief of the Al-Qassam Brigades — was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Tuesday evening.

Mohammed Odeh had been the newly-appointed commander-in-chief of Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, at the time of his death in the Israeli airstrike on 27 May 2026.

According to reports, family members of Mohammed Odeh were also killed alongside him in the Israeli airstrike on Gaza City on 27 May 2026, with their joint funeral held the following day.

The funeral in Gaza City on 28 May 2026 drew mourners paying respects to Mohammed Odeh and his family, as the Israel-Gaza conflict continued to claim lives on both sides, according to reports.
