Yogi and Puri inaugurate Gorakhpur Stadium phase one

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri attended the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the first phase of the Gorakhpur International Cricket Stadium on 16 May 2026. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ravi Kishan was also present at the event.

The ceremony on 16 May 2026 marked the formal beginning of construction on the Gorakhpur International Cricket Stadium — set to be Uttar Pradesh's newest international cricket venue — with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri jointly presiding.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed the traditional bhoomi pujan at the Gorakhpur International Cricket Stadium site on 16 May 2026, while Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and BJP MP Ravi Kishan looked on during the ceremony in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The Gorakhpur International Cricket Stadium is poised to bring international-level cricket infrastructure to eastern Uttar Pradesh for the first time, following the bhoomi pujan led by CM Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, and BJP MP Ravi Kishan on 16 May 2026.
