Jaishankar and Khanal launch UPI-Nepal remittance link

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Nepal Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal jointly launched the UPI–National Payments Interface Nepal linkage for cross-border personal remittances in New Delhi on 6 June 2026, marking a new chapter in India-Nepal digital connectivity.

India virtually handed over 72 health facilities to Nepal on 6 June 2026 as part of the post-2015 earthquake Reconstruction Programme, with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Nepal Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal presiding over the ceremony in New Delhi.

Alongside the health handovers, India also transferred 12 cultural heritage projects to Nepal under the post-2015 earthquake Reconstruction Programme, according to a statement issued on 6 June 2026 following the New Delhi ceremony.

The 6 June 2026 ceremony in New Delhi brought together the UPI–National Payments Interface Nepal remittance launch, handover of 72 health facilities, and transfer of 12 cultural heritage projects — signalling a broad deepening of India-Nepal bilateral ties.
