Gen Dhiraj Seth launches XWG Diesel in New Delhi

Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth formally launched Xtreme Weather Grade (XWG) Diesel in New Delhi on 31 July 2026 — an indigenous fuel jointly developed by the Indian Army and oil marketing companies for operations in extreme cold conditions.

At the launch event in New Delhi on 31 July 2026, General Dhiraj Seth addressed attendees on the significance of XWG Diesel as an indigenously developed solution for sustaining Indian Army operations in extreme cold terrain.

XWG Diesel is an indigenously formulated, BS-VI-compliant fuel developed jointly by the Indian Army and oil marketing companies, designed to perform reliably in the extreme cold conditions encountered during high-altitude operations.

The XWG Diesel launch marks a step forward in India's Atmanirbhar Bharat defence initiative, with the Indian Army and oil marketing companies collaborating to cut dependence on imported or modified fuels for cold-weather logistics and combat operations.
