Gadkari Bihar CM ink Nadi Sanjeevani pact

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi on 3 November 2026 under the Nadi Sanjeevani initiative, aimed at desilting Bihar's rivers and channelling excavated silt into National Highway construction.

The Nadi Sanjeevani initiative pairs river restoration with infrastructure development: silt dredged from Bihar's waterways will be directly utilised in National Highway construction, according to the MoU signed on 3 November 2026.

The MoU between the Bihar government and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, signed on 3 November 2026, is intended to restore river health through desilting while simultaneously supplying construction material for National Highways at reduced cost.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has championed the concept of using river silt in road construction as a dual benefit strategy — reviving waterways and cutting procurement costs for National Highways, a model now formalised with Bihar under the Nadi Sanjeevani pact.

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary joined Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on 3 November 2026 to sign the Nadi Sanjeevani MoU, signalling Bihar's commitment to river conservation and accelerated National Highway development in the state.
