India & Oman host INSV Kaundinya event at UN HQ

India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Harish Parvathaneni, joined dignitaries from Oman's Permanent Mission at UN headquarters, New York, on 16 May 2026 for the event titled ‘Ancient Trade Routes: The Journey of INSV Kaundinya’.

The event ‘Ancient Trade Routes: The Journey of INSV Kaundinya’ showcased India's millennia-old seafaring heritage and the shared Indian Ocean civilisation connecting South Asia and the Arabian Peninsula.

India and Oman co-organised the UN side event to highlight centuries of shared maritime commerce across the Indian Ocean, underscoring the two nations' deep diplomatic and cultural bonds on the global stage.

Held at the United Nations headquarters in New York on 16 May 2026, the joint India-Oman event drew members of the diplomatic corps and reinforced the case for inclusive ocean governance rooted in shared maritime heritage.
