Sharmila protests CEC Gyanesh Kumar from house arrest

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Y.S. Sharmila Reddy reportedly staged a protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar after being allegedly placed under house arrest in Vijayawada on 10 October 2026.

Y.S. Sharmila Reddy was seen speaking to police personnel outside her residence as she attempted to drive to Raj Bhavan on 10 October 2026 for the INDIA bloc march demanding CEC Gyanesh Kumar's resignation — she was allegedly prevented from leaving.

The INDIA bloc organised a nationwide protest on 10 October 2026 calling for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar; in Vijayawada, APCC chief Y.S. Sharmila Reddy was reportedly held under house arrest to prevent her from joining the march to Raj Bhavan.
