New Delhi, Sep 23 (NationPress) Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra expressed his disapproval regarding the actions of Pakistan players Shahibzada Farhan and Harris Rauf after their contentious celebrations during the recent Asia Cup Super 4s match against India. Farhan made a gunshot celebration upon reaching fifty runs, while Rauf was observed signaling six fingers to the audience, potentially referencing the team's achievements. However, these actions drew criticism from numerous analysts and commentators after India triumphed with a six-wicket win.
Chopra ridiculed Farhan for his celebration, pointing out that it came despite his strike rate of only 129. Sharing a clip on his X account, the former opener stated:
“This celebration, with a strike rate of 129? In the last match against India, you couldn’t even manage a run a ball, and now your strike rate is just 129. The world is soaring with Rafael, and you're merely flying a kite and celebrating.”
During the second innings, Rauf mimicked a plane taking off and landing as he faced boos from the audience while India was pursuing the target. Reflecting on this, Chopra remarked, “Harris' plane takes off and crashes. Everyone in Melbourne asked - Is that a bird or a plane? And then that plane landed. Where? Near the sight screen as Kohli executed that stunning shot. You should remember!”
Later, Rauf indicated “6-0” to the crowd, an act that Chopra found inappropriate, reminding everyone of India's dominance in recent T20Is and ODI World Cups.
“And it’s not 6-0. Seriously, man, check your math! It’s actually 7-0! Because India has won the latest T20 Internationals against Pakistan. It would even be acceptable if you claimed 8-0 because in ICC ODI World Cup matches, India leads 8-0. Thank goodness this match was broadcast live; otherwise, you'd have claimed a victory here too,” Chopra concluded.
