"My brother was more dedicated to kabaddi than I was. After joining the army, he became my family's pillar of support," he explained. His words encapsulate the sacrifices deeply rooted in rural Indian households – the handoff of dreams from one generation to the next.

The real metamorphosis began when Aanil made the courageous choice to leave his mountain home and immerse himself in the kabaddi epicenter of Haryana.

Under the mentorship of Ashan Kumar, former coach of Tamil Thalaivas, he dedicated two to three years to refining his skills. "Then, I represented Himachal Pradesh in the Senior National tournament," he said, pride evident in his voice. Yet, even that experience couldn't prepare him for what lay ahead.

The Pro Kabaddi League Player Auction is a battleground where aspirations clash with reality. As team owners fiercely competed for his signature, with Jaipur Pink Panthers and U Mumba engaged in a heated bidding war, Aanil remained blissfully unaware, lost in sleep. "I was asleep when it occurred. By the time I woke, it was all over."

When the reality set in, his first instinct was profoundly human. "I called home first," he recounted. In that moment, the boy who journeyed from village courts to national representation to record-breaking auctions remembered his roots – a family that believed in him when faith seemed elusive.

"I'm eager to learn from him. It's thrilling to play alongside him," Aanil expressed about his captain, his voice brimming with the respect of a student ready to absorb every lesson. "I have never participated in such a grand league before. I aim to absorb as much knowledge as possible."
