Key Takeaways
Ahmedabad, Feb 21 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann, announced on Saturday that the state will unveil its fifth Budget in March. He emphasized that this Budget will again prioritize the welfare of all segments of society.
During a media interaction, CM Mann stated that the government has consistently implemented pro-people and citizen-centric policies that have reshaped the state’s direction.
“The Punjab government is set to present its fifth Budget in March, continuing our commitment to a pro-people Budget focused on the welfare of everyone. Our primary objective is the well-being of the common man, and we are exerting significant effort to fulfill this goal. The upcoming Budget will provide substantial advantages to the residents of Punjab,” he said.
Criticizing the Union Government, CM Mann remarked that the BJP-led NDA Government has presented a directionless Union Budget in recent years, favoring the affluent sectors of society. “In Gujarat, where there is hardly any opposition, the challenges faced by the common man have only escalated. Both Congress and BJP seem to be engaged in a friendly match, leading to the suppression of the common man's voice,” he noted.
The Chief Minister asserted that while the Prime Minister promotes the vision of making India a Vishwa Guru, people in his own state are grappling with basic necessities. He criticized the Union Government’s tactics to silence opposition voices in a democracy, referencing the controversial concept of Digital Janta, where voting data is manipulated for electoral gains.
“Currently, the people of Gujarat are looking to AAP as their beacon of hope. There is a renewed sense of optimism in every Gujarati family with AAP,” he added. Addressing the financial rights of states, CM Mann stated that Punjab’s rightful share in the Rural Development Fund (RDF) has been unjustly withheld by the Centre, a pattern observable in states not governed by the BJP.
“In a democracy, the government should be of the people, for the people, and by the people. However, it has become commonplace to stifle opposition voices. Just as a bouquet is appreciated for its variety of flowers, democracy flourishes when every opinion is acknowledged,” he concluded.
