Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Addresses Opposition's Frustration Over Women's Rs 1,000 Monthly Aid
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, March 9 (NationPress) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated on Monday that the Opposition's irritation regarding the announcement of Rs 1,000 per month for women is a clear indication of their anxiety about the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) potentially regaining power in Punjab in 2027.
While speaking at the legislative Assembly, CM Mann remarked that parties like Sriomani Akali Dal, BJP, and Congress have consistently let the public down by neglecting their electoral commitments. In contrast, the current government has held its manifesto in high regard and has honored every promise made to the citizens within merely four years.
Emphasizing the significant changes brought about by programs such as the Mukh Mantri Mavaan Dhian Yojna, free electricity, complimentary bus travel, and health coverage of Rs 10 lakh, alongside the transparent recruitment of 63,943 youth and substantial investments in infrastructure and industry, CM Mann asserted that Punjab is steadfastly advancing on the development trajectory, and the momentum is poised to increase in the forthcoming years.
Wrapping up the discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address, introduced by Baljinder Kaur from Talwandi Sabo, CM Mann reflected on how election manifestos were once disregarded, as traditional parties merely released them as a formality shortly before elections.
“Traditional parties often filled their manifestos with discussions on religion and caste. However, AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal made a groundbreaking move by emphasizing quality health and education for the populace in the manifesto,” he added.
CM Mann further remarked, “In earlier times, manifestos were only circulated days before elections, with no one even glancing at them since traditional parties treated them as mere formalities. They often included discussions on religion and caste. But thanks to AAP’s national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, the inclusion of quality health and education for the common folk in the manifesto has compelled other parties to address these crucial areas as well.”
While reflecting on the government’s four-year term, he expressed his gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve Punjab and its residents.
CM Mann underscored the government’s accomplishments by stating that these initiatives have significantly improved the lives of the citizens.
