ABVP Activists Stage Protest at School in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind Over Student's 'Tilak' and 'Kalawa'

Bhopal, Dec 12 (NationPress) Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarti Parishad (ABVP) organized a demonstration at a missionary school located in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind district following a dispute concerning a student being prohibited from wearing a 'kalawa' (sacred thread) and a 'tilak'.

On Wednesday afternoon, approximately 25-30 ABVP supporters, along with some parents, entered the premises of St. Michael's School while shouting religious slogans.

The demonstrators chanted 'Jai Shri Ram' and recited the Hanuman Chalisa while seated in the school's courtyard.

ABVP representatives claimed that a sixth-grade girl was sent home because she arrived at school wearing a 'kalawa' and had 'tilak' applied to her forehead.

Pankaj Sharma, the girl's father, spoke to reporters, asserting that his daughter was asked to leave school due to her 'kalawa' and 'tilak'.

Sharma stated that the incident took place on December 5.

"When I learned about the incident and visited the school, I was insulted by the principal (the father of the school) and was asked to vacate the premises," Sharma alleged.

However, the principal of St. Michael's School refuted these claims, stating that no such event had transpired.

In fact, the principal indicated that notices had been sent to the parents of multiple students regarding outstanding fees.

"Over 90 percent of the faculty at this school belong to the Hindu community. Yes, it is true that the school administration issued notices to some parents concerning fee payments. Notices were given to the parents of various students with overdue fees," the principal remarked.

He further noted that Pankaj Sharma visited his office on December 6.

"He hadn’t paid fees for the last four years, and when we requested him to settle the dues, he left the school making threats that he would report us. The claim that we have dismissed any student based on other issues is entirely untrue," the principal added.

After receiving a complaint from the school, a police team, accompanied by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, arrived at the site in the evening to commence an investigation.

Mohanlal Sharma, a revenue officer leading the inquiry, stated, "Upon receiving the complaint, we assessed the school premises. We have secured the DVR of the CCTV cameras, and further investigations are in progress," Sharma added.
