Chennai, Jan 22 (NationPress) Director Advaith Nayar has disclosed that his much-anticipated action entertainer 'Chatha Pacha', starring Arjun Ashokan, Roshan Mathew, Vishak Nair, and Ishan Shoukath alongside Malayalam legend Mammootty, revolves around a group of friends striving to succeed in life together.

In an exclusive discussion with IANS, Advaith Nayar explained, "'Chatha Pacha' is truly a high-energy action entertainer. It's India’s pioneering WWE-inspired film. While there have been movies focusing on boxing and martial arts, there’s a distinct lack of Indian films drawing inspiration from WWE’s extravagant wrestling style, which features character creation, elaborate costumes, and thrilling storylines finished off with dynamic matches that we adored in our childhood."

He elaborated, "At its heart, it's about a collective of friends pursuing their dreams amidst life's challenges. Set in Kochi, a significant hub for Gatta Gusthi in South India, it’s clear that this pro-wrestling or WWE-esque wrestling is merely a more flamboyant and theatrical version of Gatta Gusthi itself."

When queried about how his cast prepared for their roles and the inspiration behind the storyline, Nayar shared, "The primary inspiration came from my own childhood nostalgia. I spent some years in Chennai with my cousins, where we would watch WWE. I was often the target of their stunts, being the youngest, which shaped my early experiences. This connected with my research in 2019 about smaller wrestling leagues in places like America, Mexico, and even Kerala in India."

He continued, "The essence of the story captures the lives of blue-collar workers in a city like New York—a taxi driver, a butcher, a teacher, perhaps even a bank teller—who, after wrapping up their day jobs, gather at a local public school’s rented basketball court once or twice a week. They arrive around 7 PM, help one another, don their self-made costumes, and set up a wrestling ring. For two hours, they live out dreams they never fulfilled due to life's circumstances, refusing to relinquish their aspirations. Then, they return to their everyday lives, having embraced their dreams for a fleeting moment."

Nayar expressed that he felt this fighting spirit resonated strongly with the people of his city—Fort Kochi and Mattanchery. "They are fighters, survivors, and dreamers; that inspired me to weave this narrative," he stated.

The film showcases cinematography by Anend C Chandran, editing by Praveen Prabhakar, screenplay by Sanoop Thykkoodam, background score by Mujeeb Majeed, lyrics by Vinayak Sasikumar, and action choreography by Kalai Kingson, all contributing to the film's vibrant scale, rhythm, and energy.

The release date for this film is set for January 22 globally.
