Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 20 (NationPress) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who participated in the India AI Impact Summit 2026 alongside Chris Lehane (Head of Public Policy, OpenAI) and Azeez Gupta (Co-founder, Rocket Learning), unveiled Shiksha Saathi, an AI-driven support tool aimed at enhancing the professional and educational skills of Anganwadi Workers throughout Maharashtra.
In a post shared on X, CM Fadnavis stated, “Maharashtra stands as the first Indian state to collaborate with OpenAI and Rocket Learning to deploy an AI-enabled tool for Anganwadi Workers on a large scale. Shiksha Saathi, created in partnership with OpenAI, is a multilingual WhatsApp-based assistant designed to offer advice on developmental progress, early learning methodologies, national curriculum-aligned practices, Aadharshila standard activities, and everyday strategies to cultivate positive learning settings.”
He continued, “This project will provide assistance to millions of Anganwadi workers in the state, offering real-time, accessible guidance that will bolster foundational learning outcomes for young children across Maharashtra. The Government of Maharashtra is dedicated to utilizing technology to improve service delivery, empower frontline workers, and promote Early Childhood Education on a large scale.”
Previously, CM Fadnavis highlighted that the Government of Maharashtra is working towards comprehensive prosperity—including food security, climate resilience, and women's empowerment—in the agricultural sector through Artificial Intelligence (AI).
He asserted that the application of AI should extend beyond exhibitions and discussions, reaching the general populace extensively. This statement was made during a seminar entitled 'AI in Agriculture' at the India AI Impact Summit-2026.
The Chief Minister expressed the state's willingness to partner with the Government of India, international research institutions, and investors to transform the lives of farmers through technological advancements. He pointed out that global agriculture is confronted with challenges such as food insecurity, unpredictable weather patterns, dwindling water supplies, soil degradation, supply chain disruptions, and market volatility. In this context, AI can play a crucial role.
CM Fadnavis explained that to ensure technology accessibility for millions, Maharashtra has introduced the Maha-Agri AI Policy, which features an open and collaborative framework, a multilingual mobile platform delivering personalized advisory, real-time market trend updates, climate alerts, and guidance on various government schemes.
He added that the enthusiastic response from farmers indicates their readiness to embrace AI. “The state aims to develop AI-based testing, integration, and crop sensing while consolidating all agricultural data for the benefit of farmers,” remarked the Chief Minister.
