The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) central leadership has appointed Ajaey Kumar, former Uttarakhand BJP State General Secretary (Organisation), as the party's General Secretary (Organisation) for Rajasthan, effective 1 June 2025. The appointment was warmly welcomed by senior state leaders, including Rajasthan BJP President Madan Rathore and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, who described it as a significant organisational reinforcement ahead of future political challenges.

Senior Leaders Welcome the Appointment

Madan Rathore congratulated Kumar, saying his 'vast organisational experience, dedication towards party workers, and capable leadership would infuse new energy and strength into the organisation.' Rathore expressed confidence that the state unit would scale new heights under Kumar's guidance, with organisational expansion and public service efforts gaining renewed momentum.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma described the appointment as national-level recognition of Kumar's 'organisational ability, leadership skills, and result-oriented work' in a politically significant state like Rajasthan. He said the decision reflected the BJP leadership's belief that experienced organisers are essential to providing fresh direction to the party.

Ajaey Kumar's Organisational Background

Kumar's public life began in 1997 as an RSS Pracharak in Srinagar (Garhwal). Over the following decades, he held a series of progressively senior roles within the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and BJP. He served as Nagar Pracharak in Srinagar, Haridwar, and Haldwani; as Zila Pracharak in Udham Singh Nagar; and as Vibhag Pracharak for the Almora division.

He subsequently strengthened organisational work in Western Uttar Pradesh as Vibhag Pracharak for the Moradabad and Bijnor divisions, before serving as Prant Bauddhik Shikshan Pramukh for the Meerut province, providing ideological training to party workers.

Track Record in Uttarakhand

In 2018, Kumar was appointed BJP Regional General Secretary (Organisation) for Western Uttar Pradesh. Since 2019, he served as Uttarakhand BJP State General Secretary (Organisation), a role in which the party reportedly achieved significant progress in discipline, cadre expansion, membership campaigns, and booth-level structural strengthening.

According to Rathore, Kumar's efforts to improve coordination between the organisation and the government, and to expand party activities into remote regions, earned widespread appreciation within the party.

What This Means for Rajasthan BJP

Rajasthan is considered one of the BJP's key battleground states, with the party having returned to power in the 2023 assembly elections. The appointment of a seasoned organiser with deep RSS roots signals the central leadership's intent to consolidate the state unit's cadre base and prepare for upcoming electoral and organisational challenges. Several BJP office-bearers and party workers also extended their welcome to the new appointee.

Kumar's induction into the Rajasthan unit is expected to sharpen booth-level coordination and ideological outreach as the party looks to sustain its organisational momentum in the state.
