Turin (Italy), Nov 14 (NationPress) Carlos Alcaraz celebrated his achievement of being awarded the ATP Year-End No. 1 trophy for the second time in his career during the ATP Finals on Friday afternoon, marking his return to this prestigious position for the first time since 2022. The talented Spaniard, who has amassed six Grand Slam titles to date, secured this honor after triumphing over Lorenzo Musetti, achieving a 3-0 record in the round-robin stage of the season's grand finale.
The 22-year-old, hailing from El Palmar, Murcia, went professional in 2018 and aspires to capture his inaugural title at the ATP Finals.
“It is a genuine honor for me to be No. 1,” Alcaraz expressed during the ceremony. “Being at the top of the world is a goal I pursue daily with my team. It’s not just my journey; it involves my entire team, family, and close supporters, who are there for me through thick and thin. That’s something I am incredibly proud of: having such a remarkable team.”
Reflecting on his previous Year-End No. 1 accolade in 2022, Alcaraz noted that he had the same team, emphasizing their continued collaboration and success.
“I remain immensely proud of my current team,” Alcaraz stated. “There are new faces in the team, and I am thrilled to share this moment with them too. This is a significant achievement that means everything to me, and I feel proud and delighted,” he remarked, as quoted by the ATP Tour.
The trophy was presented to Alcaraz by ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi and Head of Corporate Brand and Strategic Advisory at PIF, Mohamed Alsayyad.
As the 22-year-old aims for his first Nitto ATP Finals title, he has already secured his place in the semi-finals, where he will face either two-time champion Alexander Zverev or Felix Auger-Aliassime on Saturday.
Before shifting his focus back to the competition in Turin, Alcaraz expressed gratitude to fans worldwide. “I want to keep going because the support I receive everywhere is irreplaceable. I can’t thank everyone enough,” Alcaraz noted.
“We’ve been on the road since January 1st until the end of November — experiencing new places, countries, and venues, and the energy from the fans remains constant. The atmosphere is always incredible, and the love I feel is overwhelming.
“In some tournaments, without the audience's backing, it would be impossible to come back, win, and lift trophies. Therefore, I sincerely thank everyone who attends each tournament and supports tennis and me. I am truly grateful for the energy and affection I receive. This trophy is dedicated to all of you.”
