Kottayam, Sep 6 (NationPress) A father has stepped forward with alarming claims of police brutality and harassment against his 24-year-old son, alleging that officers from the Ettumanoor police station assaulted him and falsely implicated him in various cases, despite numerous complaints filed with higher authorities.
The ordeal began on March 20, 2025, when Abhay S. Rajeev was riding his motorcycle from Ettumanoor town to his residence.
A private bus, reportedly speeding along an unauthorized path, almost struck him.
When he confronted the bus driver at the Ettumanoor private bus stand, Circle Inspector Ansil and four policemen allegedly attacked Abhay in front of bystanders.
His mobile device and bike were also said to have been damaged.
The father alleged that Abhay was subsequently taken to the Janamaithri Mediation Centre near the Ettumanoor station, where he endured another severe assault in an area devoid of CCTV surveillance.
“They beat him with lathis until his back was gravely injured. I shared photos of his injuries on social media,” the father stated.
Despite lodging complaints with the Chief Minister, Prime Minister, Governor, DGP, Human Rights Commission, and SC/ST Commission, the family claims that justice has eluded them even after six months.
He further alleged that the police improperly invoked the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA Act) against his son, a former SFI activist with two campus-related cases.
The KAAPA Advisory Board later dismissed the charges and criticized the Ettumanoor police.
Nonetheless, senior officers allegedly colluded to depict Abhay as a drug user and an anti-social figure.
The father also accused former Pathanamthitta SP V.G. Vinod Kumar of filing false reports that resulted in the revocation of his and his brother’s caste status, which was later suspended by the Kerala High Court.
Meanwhile, a First Information Report (FIR) was reportedly filed against them, and actions were initiated to revoke Abhay’s driving license.
“My son is receiving treatment for depression. Despite clear evidence, the police officers remain unpunished. I will seek justice at any cost,” the father declared, pledging to continue his legal fight.
