Amaravati, Sep 30 (NationPress) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday appealed to the Centre for financial assistance under the Purvodaya scheme, which is designed for the comprehensive development of eastern states.
As per the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), he presented a thorough representation to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, seeking the Union government's support under the Purvodaya initiative.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Purvodaya scheme, launched by the Centre for the all-around development of eastern states, has identified Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh as major beneficiaries.
The primary goal of the scheme is to unleash the economic potential of eastern regions by fostering agriculture, industry, and infrastructure development, thereby reducing regional inequalities and promoting inclusive growth.
Highlighting the necessity for balanced development, CM Naidu stated that the state government has devised extensive plans to efficiently utilize the scheme’s funds for regional advancement.
Sharing his vision, the CM informed FM Sitharaman that the state government's objectives include promoting horticulture in Rayalaseema, expanding coffee, cashew, and coconut farms in northern Andhra, and enhancing aquaculture initiatives in coastal Andhra.
He asserted that targeted financing for these projects under Purvodaya would not only boost productivity but also create jobs and increase income levels in rural communities.
Naidu particularly highlighted that the implementation of the scheme would be transformative for underdeveloped regions like North Andhra and Rayalaseema, which have historically fallen behind in industrial and economic progress.
The Chief Minister, who arrived in the national capital on Tuesday, is set to participate in the CII’s curtain-raiser partnership summit, where he is expected to showcase investment opportunities within the state and encourage investors to join the upcoming CII Partnership Summit scheduled for November 14 and 15 in Visakhapatnam.
The state government is organizing roadshows in various countries to attract industrialists to the Partnership Summit.
Naidu will also have a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Following his overnight stay in Delhi, he will head to Visakhapatnam on October 1, and subsequently visit Datti village in the Vizianagaram district to participate in the "pedala sevalo" NTR Bharosa pension distribution programme.
