Amaravati, July 7 (NationPress) - The state of Andhra Pradesh is all set for a monumental Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) with an astonishing 2,28,21,454 participants anticipated across 61,135 educational institutions.
The state government has branded this event as Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting 2.0, taking place on July 10, and aims to reinforce the bond between schools and parents. This initiative marks a first in India, as the PTM will occur simultaneously in both government and private schools.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his son, Education Minister Nara Lokesh, will be actively engaging in the event at Puttaparthy.
Lokesh emphasizes that progress in any domain hinges on the inclusive involvement of all stakeholders. Committed to positioning Andhra Pradesh's educational framework as a national standard, the government is focused on reform, resolution, and radical inclusion.
The inaugural Mega PTM took place on December 7, 2024, successfully reaching all corners of the state and fostering a new collaborative culture in education. The PTM serves as a platform to connect parents with schools, promoting shared accountability in children’s educational journeys.
In its first edition, the PTM saw participation from 25.46 lakh parents, 27,395 alumni, 22,200 donors, and 36,918 elected representatives across 44,956 schools.
The government has now expanded Mega PTM 2.0 to include private aided and unaided institutions as well.
The School Education Department has issued directives for the PTM to take place on July 10 across all government, aided, unaided, and junior colleges. This event is projected to engage 74,96,228 students, 3,32,770 teachers, and 1,49,92,456 parents, donors, and stakeholders.
In total, 2,28,21,454 participants are expected across 61,135 institutions.
Preparations are in full force, with senior officials such as Kona Sasidhar (Secretary, School Education), Vijay Rama Raju V. (Director, School Education), Kritika Shukla (Director, Intermediate Education), and B. Srinivasa Rao (SPD, Samagra Shiksha) overseeing the planning through video conferences.
This initiative aims to foster comprehensive community involvement in education, as outlined by the Right to Education Act, 2009 (RTE) and the National Education Policy, 2020 (NEP).
The PTM is anticipated to build trust among parents, teachers, and school communities. Parents will gain insights into their children’s academic progress, behavior, and social development, while teachers will receive support for learning at home.
Teachers will provide holistic progress cards to parents, presenting a complete view of each child’s academic path. During public meetings led by headmasters, schools will outline their performance, infrastructure needs, and action plans.
Engaging activities and games will foster camaraderie among parents and enhance their emotional connection. The success stories of students and schools will be celebrated and highlighted.
Mega PTM 2.0 will also feature family photo booths, sessions on positive parenting, and a special initiative titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” – planting a sapling in honor of mothers. Students will be issued a Green Passport to monitor the growth and care of these trees. They can register and receive saplings via the ‘LEAP App’.
