Mumbai, Sep 25 (NationPress) Actor Angad Bedi warmly commemorated his late father, the iconic cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi, on what would have been his birth anniversary.

On this significant day, the actor expressed his heartfelt sentiments, honoring his father's enduring influence and reminiscing about their relationship. Angad took to Instagram to share nostalgic photographs of his father's cricketing days. One image captures the legendary cricketer gazing at the pitch with a ball in hand, while another depicts Bishan Singh Bedi in mid-delivery, showcasing his bowling prowess.

Angad also highlighted personal memories with his father—one photograph shows the two together, while another is from Angad's wedding. Accompanying the images, the 'Tiger Zinda Hai' star wrote, “Happy birthday pitaji!! May you always be tossing it up!! 25th Sept 1946..”

Recognized as one of the greatest spin bowlers in cricket's rich history, Bishan Singh Bedi represented India in Test matches from 1966 to 1979. He was a vital part of the legendary Indian spin quartet and captained the national team in 22 Test matches. Throughout his remarkable career, he played in 67 Tests, taking a total of 266 wickets.

Bishan Singh Bedi passed away on October 23, 2023, after facing age-related health challenges and undergoing several surgeries in the preceding years.

In 2024, Angad Bedi and his wife Neha Dhupia announced the revival of the Bishan Singh Bedi Cricket Coaching Trust (BBCCT), a program originally founded by the legendary cricketer. The couple, along with the Bedi family, organized an event in the National Capital to pay tribute to Bishan Singh Bedi and celebrate his lasting impact on his birth anniversary.

Reflecting on his father's legacy, Angad Bedi remarked, “To honor his dedication to the sport, my father always viewed his fellow cricketers as family. He believed that the more you contribute to the game, the more it reciprocates, but without any expectations. His guiding principle was to remain focused and committed. We aim to carry forward his vision and, through this initiative, uphold his teachings. He was a strong proponent of supporting cricket at the grassroots level and providing aspiring cricketers with a platform to showcase their abilities.”
