Mumbai, March 23 (NationPress) Actress Anjali Anand reminisced about a remarkable experience on the set of Dabba Cartel, where she found herself utterly surprised while shooting a scene alongside the esteemed actress Shabana Azmi.
In a candid conversation with IANS, Anand recounted how Azmi casually referenced a previous boss, a moment that left her momentarily starstruck. Despite this brief distraction, Anand swiftly regained her concentration to continue her performance, reflecting on how impactful and unexpected the encounter was.
The actress expressed, “There was this one specific moment while I was shooting a scene with Shabana ji in Dabba Cartel. She casually dropped a name—someone who used to be their boss, someone significant—and I was completely taken aback. My thoughts just scattered in that instant. I thought to myself, 'Here I am, standing in front of Shabana Azmi!'”
“It definitely threw me off a little. But then I understood I needed to keep my composure and focus on delivering the performance, no matter who was in front of me. That moment did make me lose my focus for a brief second, which is unusual for me. It hadn’t happened before, but it was a powerful experience,” Anjali added.
Anjali Anand continued, “Collaborating with Shabana and Jyothika has been a dream come true. They are so grounded and wise in their personal and professional lives. They are incredibly inspiring. I look at them and think, 'I aspire to be like them when I reach their age—stable, wise, and graceful.' They make everything seem effortless on set, and their calm and grounded presence is truly comforting.”
Dabba Cartel, which debuted on Netflix, featured Anjali as the bold yet naive Shahida. The series, directed by Hitesh Bhatia of Sharmaji Namkeen fame, also starred Gajraj Rao, Jyotika, Nimisha Sajayan, and Shalini Pandey. The show was created by Shibani Akhtar, Vishnu Menon, Gaurav Kapur, and Akanksha Seda.
Anjali was also featured in Bun Tikki alongside Zeenat Aman, Shabana Azmi, and Abhay Deol. She enjoyed a successful yet brief stint in television, delivering consecutive hits with Dhai Kilo Prem and Kulfi Kumar Bajewala.
However, Anjali decided to take a purposeful break from TV and subsequently secured a role in the Dharma Productions film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
