Mumbai, Jan 20 (NationPress) Actor Anup Soni commemorated his mother-in-law, the esteemed theatre icon Nadira Babbar, on her remarkable 78th birthday.

He expressed admiration for her as a true legend of the theatrical world, emphasizing her remarkable passion, generosity, and steadfast dedication to the arts, which have motivated countless individuals over the years.

In an Instagram post, Anup shared a photograph with Nadira and captioned it: “Happy Birthday Ma, my mother-in-law, Nadira Babbar Ji. A theatre legend whose passion, generosity, and lifelong support for the arts have inspired generations.”

Nadira founded her theatre company Ekjute in 1981 in Delhi, debuting with the production Yahudi Ki Ladki, which revitalized the Parsi theatre tradition.

Throughout the past three decades, Ekjute has contributed over sixty plays to Indian theatre, including noteworthy productions like Sandhya Chhaya, Look Back in Anger, Ballabpur Ki Roop Katha, Baat Laat Ki Halaat Ki, Bharam Ke Bhoot, Shabash Anarkali, and Begum Jaan.

Nadira portrayed the mother of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's character in Gurinder Chadha's Bride and Prejudice (2004) and appeared in M. F. Hussain's Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities.

She also played the mother of Salman Khan's role in Sohail Khan's Jai Ho and the mother of Raj Bansal in Sunny Deol's Ghayal Once Again (2016).

Anup is wed to actress Juhi Babbar. He launched his career with television serials like Sea Hawks and Saaya.

After a hiatus from television, he transitioned to films, featuring in the 2003 movies Kharaashein: Scars From Riots, Hum Pyar Tumhi Se Kar Baithe, and Hathyar.

In 2004, he was seen in Ashoke Pandit's film Sheen. He later returned to television with CID: Special Bureau. Anup continues to balance both films and television, having previously appeared in Crime Patrol.

Recently, he featured in the series Saare Jahan Se Accha, which narrates the story of a resilient Indian spy who must outsmart his counterpart across the border in Pakistan in a battle of wits and strategy to undermine its nuclear program.

Anup also made a cameo in the film The Great Shamsuddin Family, directed by Anusha Rizvi, which features a talented ensemble cast including Kritika Kamra, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Sheeba Chaddha, Farida Jalal, and Purab Kohli.
